Alan Rogers Review
This is a pleasant site on the northern outskirts of Mayenne, an old port town which boasts a castle and cathedral, built on the steep banks of the river of the same name. It is 200 kilometres from Cherbourg and could make a useful night stop or possible base for visiting the Le Mans 24-hour race (70 km). It has a tranquil, peaceful atmosphere, and tall poplars and weeping willows over the river lend it charm (and shade). The 70 pitches are on fairly level grass and include a number right beside the river. Most have electrical connections (10A). At the northern end the adjacent Moulinex factory has 24-hour generators with a constant hum.
Facilities
The fairly old sanitary block has British style WCs. There are accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Shop (July/Aug). Takeaway snack bar (high season). Play area. Games room. Boules.
Location
Site is well signed from the town, 1 km. north of Mayenne centre, just off N12 to Caen.
