Camping Mischabel is attractively located close to the ski resort of Saas-Grund, near the head of a remote valley in the mountains of southeast Switzerland. The 150 pitches are grouped in several distinct grassy areas, some open, others with trees providing shade; most have views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Electricity connections (10A) are available. There is a small kiosk selling drinks, ices and hiking maps, and a WiFi zone. Buses run from the site entrance to the villages of Saas-Almagell, Saas-Grund, and Visp. The area provides endless opportunities for lovers of the ‘great outdoors’ - Saas-Grund is known as The Hiking Pearl.

The village has a new 1,200-metre wellness and activity trail where you can wade through ice-cold streams, drink crystal-clear glacier water, cross rope bridges and raft across the mountain lake; the alpine flower walk allows you to discover the unique alpine flora, with more than 240 plant varieties.

The village runs an activity programme in high season, whilst the nearby Hohsi-Land playground offers ‘fun and games for everyone’. The road up from Visp is uphill and winding, but the views are breathtaking and the destination worthwhile.

Modern sanitary block includes free showers. Guests’ room with phone, radio and television. Laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Small kiosk open daily, 7.30-12.00 and 13.00-22.00. Bread orders taken each evening. Internet.

Directions to Camping Mischabel

Saas-Grund is south of Visp. From the A9/E62 route from Lausanne at Visp take exit south for Zermatt and Saas-Fee. After Stalden turn southeast for Eisten and Saas-Fee. Go through Saas-Grund and turn left (opposite pharmacy) signed Saas-Almagell. This is the econd campsite on the right. Take care with tight turn over bridge.
