Camping l’Orée de Deauville is situated close to the village of Vauville in the heart of the Calvados stud farms, near the famous resort of Deauville. There are 150 large, level, grass pitches. The 100 for touring (10A electricity) are separated by neat hedging and a variety of mature trees give good shade in places. The enthusiastic new owners have brought order to an over-run site; grass and hedges are well maintained and there is an on-going programme of improvements. The aim is to continue to provide a relaxed, family friendly environment from which to explore the many attractions of this interesting area.
Beaches abound along this stretch of coast, the nearest being just three kilometres away. The seaside resort of Deauville, famous for its festival of American cinema, horse racing and golf tournaments, also has a bustling, picturesque harbour, many shops, bars and restaurants, and a casino. Another must is the delightful fishing village of Honfleur, now a Mecca for tourists with its harbour-side restaurants and a great variety of shops, bars and eating places. For days out further a field, you could head west to visit the Germany Batterie (now an open-air museum) at Merville-Franceville, Caen with its memorial, and the many Normandy beaches. The Calvados distillery and Pont l’Evêque, with its distinctive cheese, are worth a visit.

The sanitary block has pushbutton showers and some washbasins in cubicles. Basic Accessible facilities (shower/washbasin and separate WC). Washing machines and dryer. Bread to order. Bar, snack bar and takeaway (1/7-1/9). Small heated pool, paddling pool and sunbathing area (20/6-1/9; no Bermuda shorts). Play areas. Boules. WiFi by reception (free). Bicycle, go-kart and barbecue hire.

The site is some 45 km. south west of Le Havre. Leave Le Havre on A131 east, turn south on A29 to cross Normandy Bridge. Take exit 2, D579, towards Deauville. After 6 km. turn right on D228 then in 8 km. turn left to roundabout and cross onto D27. Site is on left in 6 km.
