L’Océan lies close to the centre of the Ile de Ré, just 50 m. from a sandy beach. There are 339 pitches here with 153 for touring units, the remainder occupied by mobile homes and chalets. The camping area is well shaded and pitches are of a reasonable size, all with electricity (10A). A pleasant bar/restaurant overlooks the large heated swimming pool which is surrounded by an attractive sunbathing terrace. Bicycle hire is popular here as the island offers over 100 km. of interesting cycle routes. A bus goes to La Rochelle from 300 metres outside the site.

In peak season a range of entertainment is organised including disco evenings, sports tournaments and kids clubs.

The two toilet blocks are modern and well maintained with facilities for children and accessible facilities Laundry. Dog shower. Motorhome services. Shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway, swimming pool (all open all season). Games room. Riding. Tennis. Fishing pond adjacent. Play area. Minigolf (free). Trampolines and bouncy castle. Boules. Directions to Camping l’Océan

After toll bridge, join D735 which runs along the north side of island until you pass La Couarde. The site is 2.5 km. beyond village (towards Ars-en-Ré).
