Camping L’Isle aux Moulins is a family-friendly site in the stunningly scenic Loire Valley, so lengthy explores are a must. Of course, the châteaux are a must visit and in this area, you will have plenty to choose from such as Chamerolles, Sully-sur-Loire, Chambord, Gien, Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire, Blancafort and Meung-sur-Loire are all within an hour, and dozens more not much farther Many neighbouring towns will provide an opportunity for boat, canoe or kayak trips on the river, or clamber into the saddle (rent bikes on site) to get started on the 800-kilometre Loire à Velo cycle path, which passes right by the site entrance. If a more sedate getaway is needed, there’s no need to travel far as there is a sandy beach to laze on, an indoor pool to float serenely in and public tennis courts for a little exercise all within five minutes’ walk. During high season children can get in some outdoor play while grownups snooze in the shade, and evening time brings entertainment with it. There are plenty of shops, bar and restaurants in Jargeau. The site has 186 grass touring pitches with 10amp hook-up point, 16 seasonal pitches and 3 lodge tents available to hire.
Other visits could include Maison de Loire ecomuseum in Jargeau, trips to the Parc Floral de la Source and Arboretum des Grandes Bruyères, 20 minutes’ drive from base, and jaunts into the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park an hour and a half away. For urban days, the half-hour drive to Orleans is highly recommended for adventure parks, museums, galleries and theatres – for something grander, Paris is two hours away. |

Directions to Camping l’Isle aux Moulins
From Orléans on the A71/E9 take junction 1, La Chapelle St Mesmin at the end of the slip road turn right to a roundabout and join D2552. At a junction turn left onto D2152. Shortly bear right to stay on D2152. Ignore the first bridge over the river and continue to the second and cross the bridge on the D2020. At traffic lights turn left to join the D921 towards Saint-Dennis-en-Val and Jargeau. On the edge of Jargeau keep left to join the D921. Stay on the D921 when it turns left. On Abend where it turns right, turn left into Rue du 44E Regiment de Infanterie and the site is on this road.
