Camping les Mérilles is a small, good quality, family run campsite 500 m. from the small town of Doucier and only 2 km. from the beautiful Lac de Chalain. Despite speaking very little English, the owner, Christine Gras, is particularly friendly and she is justifiably proud of her site. It has 96 good sized, grass pitches separated by hedging. A variety of trees give shade. There are 76 pitches for touring units with 16 having a private bathroom. All have 10A electricity connections. This site is a quieter alternative to the much busier sites near the lake. The surrounding area is well worth exploring and is well known for its lakes, waterfalls and caves. Owners of large outfits should phone ahead to reserve the larger pitches.

The campsite has a large amount of information about the marked walks, cycle tracks and the many old interesting places to visit.

Facilities at Camping les Mérilles

One well appointed, heated toilet block near reception with family shower room and accessible facilities, one older small block plus 16 private cabins to rent with certain pitches. Motorhome services. Simple shop and bar with TV (1/6-30/9). Takeaway (1/7-30/9). Outdoor heated pool and paddling pool (1/5-30/9). Playground. Outdoor fitness equipment, Multisports pitch. Bicycle hire. Riding. Organised family activities (July/Aug). WiFi in some areas (free).

Doucier is 25 km. east of Lons-le-Saunier. The site is 500 m. east of Doucier on the D39 with the entrance on the right.
