Alan Rogers Review
This site is close to the beautiful Vanoise National Park and at 1,470 m. is one of the highest campsites we feature. There is a climb to the site but the spectacular scenery is well worth the effort. It is a natural, terraced site with 78 good sized, reasonably level and well drained, grassy pitches, with 69 used for touring units, all having electricity (5-10A). Outside taps are only available in summer because of the altitude and cold winters. For those who love walking and mountain biking, wonderful scenery, flora and fauna, this is the site for you. A fast flowing river runs alongside the site.
In winter, it is ideal for the serious skier, being close to the famous resort of Les Arcs (via free bus service and cable car) and about 30 of the pitches at the bottom of the site are unused as they become part of a cross country ski run. A wide range of footpaths and mountain bike rides are available in the valley and mountains around. Some chair lifts carry bikes up to the walking/bike tracks high up in the mountains; the descent is breathtaking. In winter, there are the ski resorts of Peisey Vallandry, Les Arcs and La Plagne with a variety of snow sports to try – snowshoeing, sledge dog excursions, and Nordic skiing.
Facilities
Well appointed heated sanitary block with roomy hot showers and washbasins in cabins. Accessible Facilities (but site itself not recommended). Motorhome services. Restaurant, takeaway (July/Aug. and winter). Playground. Club/TV room. Large tent/marquee used in bad weather. In winter a small bus (free) runs to the ski lifts every 30 minutes. Free WiFi in reception.
Location
From Albertville take N90 towards Bourg-St Maurice, through Aime. In 9 km. turn right on D87, signed Peisey-Nancroix. Follow a winding hilly road (with hairpin bends) for 10 km. Pass through Peisey-Nancroix; site on right 1 km. beyond Nancroix.
