Alan Rogers Review
Set amongst mature trees adjacent to a large lake on one side of the site, and a gently-flowing river (unfenced) on two others, this attractive municipal site is a peaceful haven tucked away from the large bustling city of Châteauroux. There are 166 numbered level pitches, mainly open but shaded by trees. The site has easy access for larger units. The Belle-Isle lake adjacent to the site offers a bar, restaurant, cycle tracks, fishing and watersports. The modern, well run reception has all the information you need to help you enjoy your stay. English is spoken.
There is a public outdoor swimming pool next door with free entry in July and August, and an indoor pool with slides and wave machine is a short walk away. Although there are limited amenities on site, some shops are only a five-minute walk away and the city is a short ride on the free bus which stops outside the gate. All the buses in Châteauroux are free and run until 18.00.
Two well equipped sanitary blocks with controllable showers and shower curtain divider. Washbasins in cabins. All very clean. Facilities for disabled visitors (no key required). Laundry. Bread and pastries at reception. Small grocery stocks regional produce. Small play area. Pétanque. Bicycle hire.
LocationThe city of Châteauroux is accessed from exits 12,13 or 14 from A20 Vierzon -Limoges motorway. Head towards city centre where Camping Le Rochat-Belle-Isle is well signed. Signs for ‘Halls Exposition’ also take you to recreational area, where site is next left after municipal pool. Link to campsite location map on google
