Alan Rogers Review
Le Pont du Tarn, just outside Florac and close to the River Tarn, is an excellent base for touring this beautiful Cévennes region of France. There are 181 pitches with 28 occupied by mobile homes and chalets (available to rent). The pitches are large, level, grassy and well shaded. All have electricity (10A) and 36 are fully serviced. Access to this site and on-site is good for large outfits. Leisure amenities include a swimming pool, a paddling pool, minigolf and a sports area. A children’s club is also operated in peak season. Only gas and electric barbecues allowed on site (communal one available).
Florac is close at hand and is a delightful small town. The town is viewed as the gateway to the Tarn gorges, the Cévennes national park and the Causses. There are good opportunities for many outdoor activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing and potholing. Fishing, notably for trout, is also very popular in the area (permits required). Florac boasts no less than 22 marked footpaths and access to a number of GR long distance trails.
The clean toilet facilities are housed in an older-style, heated building, with a second similar block, and include good sized preset showers. Facilities for disabled visitors and babies. Shop. Bar/restaurant/takeaway (18/5-30/8). Swimming pool, paddling pool (8/5-30/9). Sports area. Minigolf. Play area. Motorhome services. River beach. Entertainment and activity programme (high season). Free WiFi.
Florac is 56 km. northwest of Alès on N106. Bypass Florac and at roundabout turn right onto D998, signed Pont de Montvert, site shortly on left.Link to campsite location map on google
