Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Plan d’Eau
This well cared for site is owned by a very friendly French family who speak excellent English. It is in the heart of the region, on the quieter upper reaches of the River Ardèche, just two kilometres from St Privat and surrounded by magnificent countryside. A nature trail leads to the river bank where it is possible to swim. There are 100 level, grassy pitches (75 for touring) with hedges and large trees providing good shade. Pitches are 100 and 150 sq.m, all with 8A electricity (long leads required on some).
Since moving here a few years ago, the family have made great improvements, including a good heated swimming pool and a pleasant cosy bar and terrace, all open all season. This is a good starting point for walks and cycle trips (some are organised in high season) and the site is surrounded by glorious scenery with glorious views from just up the hill from the site. Access to the site is easy.
Facilities at Camping le Plan d’Eau
The toilet block is of very good quality. Some washbasins in cabins, good size, preset showers. Facilities for children and babies. Roomy accessible sanitary facilities. Washing machines. Small shop. Bar and restaurant. Takeaway with simple menu. Heated outdoor swimming and paddling pools (all season). Excellent multisports court. Fishing, boating, bathing in river. Play area. Organised family events in July/Aug and programme of off site events. No barbecues are allowed (communal area available). WiFi throughout (charged).
