A pleasant scenic drive brings you to this spacious and well-maintained site. It is set in a wooded valley beside a pretty river where, we are told, the locals still pan for gold. You will find a warm welcome and a relaxing atmosphere here in this lesser-known area of the Auvergne.

The 99 large pitches (59 for touring) are separated by a variety of trees and hedges giving good shade. Some pitches have hardstanding and all have electricity (5-10A), long leads may be necessary. Fresh bread and croissants are baked daily on-site, as are snacks and pizzas to order.

This tranquil site is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists, route maps for all degrees of difficulty are available from reception. It is possible to visit markets in local villages on five days of the week.

A cheese seller visits the campsite on Tuesday mornings. Entertainment for children makes use of an unusual ship-shaped building, which provides protection from sun or rain. Canoe hire is available direct from the site. Four well maintained communal barbecues are a focal point for social gatherings in the evenings. Outings to various destinations in the area are organised for family groups in high season. A wellness centre is just 3 km. away in Singles, offering massage and relaxation therapy. The River Burande has been panned for gold for many years and, it is believed, still offers good prospects.

Directions to Camping le Moulin de Serre

Site is 25 km. southwest of La Bourboule. Leave A89 at exit 23, follow D979 signed Bort-les-Orgues, then take D922 north for 10 km. Turn west off D922 just south of Tauves at site sign. Follow site signs along D29 and then the D73 for 10 km. Site is well signed.
