For those seeking a quiet, family site set in most spectacular scenery, Camping le Haut-Verdon is ideal. It is on the banks of the Verdon, an excellent trout river, which flows through the spectacular gorge. The river can be fast flowing. Surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, it is on the doorstep of the Mercantour National Park. Set amongst the pines, the 109 pitches are mostly on the large size but are rather stony. With 66 for touring units, all have electricity (6/10A) but some require long leads. There is a small village nearby and the town of Saint André is 23 km. away.

Since taking over the site, some years ago, Monsieur Demmerle has had some major renovation work carried out including the bar and restaurant, the children’s play area and a dishwashing extension to the toilet and shower block. New showers have been installed. The site is open in winter for the hire of mobile homes only.

Facilities

Two sanitary blocks (one heated) with hot showers and facilities for babies. Accessible sanitary facilities, Washing machines. Freezer for ice packs. Room for tent campers for inclement weather. Motorhome services. Small shop. Bar/restaurant, takeaway (Seasonal). Heated swimming, paddling pools (High Season). Play area. Boules. Skittle alley. Tennis. Volleyball. Basketball. Trim trail in the woods. TV room. Organised games and competitions (July/Aug). Fishing. Communal barbecues only. WiFi throughout (charged).

Location

Follow D955 north from St André-les-Alpes towards Colmar. After 11 km. road number changes to D908. Site on right at southern edge of Villars-Colmars. Caravans not advised to use the D908 from Annot or Col d’Allos from Barcelonnette.
