Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Garden
Le Garden is a well cared for and pretty site, situated amongst tall pines and flowering shrubs, some 400 m. back from a fine sandy beach at La Grande Motte. The pitches are of a good size (100 sq.m) on sandy grass. There are 121 mobile homes to rent and 86 touring pitches, most with 10A electricity, water and drainage. An attractive pool is overlooked by the restaurant. The site also has a small ‘centre commercial’ with a range of shops and a bar next door, which is open to the public. Le Garden is a very comfortable and well ordered site (possible road noise during the day) within pleasant walking distance of the town centre and port.
La Grande Motte is a product of the sixties tourist boom when much building went on, and at the time the apartment blocks seemed very futuristic. It has now matured into a smart, upmarket seaside resort with plenty of green space. There is much to see in the area, being on the edge of the Petite Camargue and only a few kilometres from the old walled town of Aigues-Mortes. A regular bus service (half hourly) runs from outside the site to Montpellier and other places.
Facilities at Camping le Garden
Three well situated toilet blocks, smartly refurbished in Mediterranean colours, include washbasins in cabins and baby bath. Laundry facilities. Accessible Unit. Shops to one side of the site with groceries, cigarettes, newspapers and boutique (1/3-30/9). Bar, restaurant and takeaway on site (15/5-30/9). Swimming pool and paddling pool (15/5-30/9). Play area. TV room. Internet access and WiFi. Gas and electric barbecues only.
Directions to Camping le Garden
Entering La Grande Motte from D62 dual carriageway, keep right following signs for ‘campings’ and petite Motte. Turn right at traffic lights by the casino, and right again by the Bar Le Garden and site is almost immediately on right.
