Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Cheyenne

Located just 17 miles southeast of Limoges, this is a small family run campsite with just 49 level, grassy pitches. All have 6A Europlug, some have shade and most are separated by mature ornamental hedges. Facilities are basic but clean. The campsite bar and restaurant is popular with locals and also with visitors to the leisure lake and children's play areas directly across the road. This can be busy in high season and there was music late into the night during our visit. A mixture of old and new chalet-style accommodation is available to rent.

The large town of Limoges offers all of the usual shopping outlets together with many different and interesting museums, including porcelain and arts and antiquities. A little further away are a zoological garden, a large aquarium and a mining museum. The Village of Oradour-sur-Glane is nearby. This village has been kept as a memorial to the atrocities of the Second World War, and a visit is a chilling and thought provoking experience. Limousin offers a good selection of cycle tracks, several of which are accessible from the campsite.

The rather dated toilet block has a mixture of British and squat WCs, hot showers and some washbasins in cabins. Accessible facilities. Washing machine. Motorhome services. Bar and restaurant with takeaway. Small play area. WiFi (free).

From A20 exit 39 take D15 towards St Hilaire-Bonneval continue on D15 via Siardeix, then D12 via Linards onto Châteauneuf-la-Forêt. Site is signed in Village.
