Mount Canigou dominates much of the department of Pyrénées Orientales and reaches a height of 2,784m. Canigou Camping can be found in the foothills of this magnificent mountain. Heading southeast from here, you will find Mediterranean landscapes, vines and olive trees on beautiful hillsides. The mountain region, however, is a complete contrast, much more rugged and richly wooded, and where you can find exceptional flora and fauna.

The site is divided by the river La Lentillà. There are 100 touring pitches and a small number of chalets for 4 or 6 people (available to rent). On-site amenities include a bar/restaurant with a large shady terrace, which becomes the focal point for entertainment in high season.

In spring the river is dammed to form a natural bathing pool, 1.4 m. deep. Various sports activities are on offer, including a special adventure course, Les Ecureuils’, supervised by qualified instructors, and available to all over ten years. This is magnificent walking country and the site’s friendly Dutch owners will be pleased to recommend routes.

Location

The site is east of Prades. From Perpignan head west on N116 to Vinca and, shortly beyond the village, head south on D25 to Espira-de-Conflent. Site is well signed.
