The focus at Camping Lauwersoog is very much on the sea and watersports. One can have sailing lessons or hire canoes and there is direct access to the beach from the site. There are 450 numbered pitches with 250 for tourers; 140 have water, drainage, electricity and cable connections. The pitches are on level, grassy fields (some beside the beach), partly separated by hedges and some with shade from trees (cars parked separately). A building in the marina houses a restaurant, bar, shop, laundry and an adventure playground. It also provides beautiful views over the Lauwersmeer. The site’s restaurant specialises in seafood and even the entertainment programmes for all ages have a water theme.

Youngsters can play on the beach or in the covered play area, whilst adults may join sailing trips organised from the site, or walk and cycle through the Lauwersmeergebied (a national park) or perhaps, if the tide is low, even walk to Schiemonnikoog. The harbour of Lauwersoog is nearby where you can take the ferry to Schiermonnikoog and let the wind blow away the cobwebs on the large beaches of this beautiful, almost car-free island (only residents may take cars).
