Alan Rogers Review
Rock pools, sand dunes and spectacular sunsets, with sea views from some of the pitches, help to make this site attractive to those seeking an ‘away from it all’ holiday in a quiet part of the Ile d’Oléron. The campsite, which has direct access to a beautiful, sandy beach, is arranged in three areas, some with good shade, others in full sun. Of the 352 pitches, 137 are for touring units, most with electricity (3-10A), water and drainage. The nearest village (Domino) is about 500 m. away and has a daily market.
A short drive takes you to Saint Georges which has a few shops, bars and restaurants, while a little further away Saint Pierre has a hypermarket and further shops. Plenty of sandy beaches are within easy reach along both sides of the island, many of the villages have daily markets and there are several little ports where restaurants serve a wide range of seafood. There is an extensive network of paths and tracks for walkers and cyclists, with no hills to negotiate.
Two fairly basic toilet blocks (plus two small blocks, open as needed) with mainly British style toilets, preset showers and washbasins in cabins. Laundry facilities. Bar, shop with limited takeaway and snack bar (June-Aug). Heated indoor pool (all season) and outdoor swimming and paddling pools with slides (April-Sept). Play area. Activities in high season. Tennis. Boules. Bicycle hire. WiFi over part of site (charged).
Cross bridge onto Ile d’Oléron and follow D26/D734 (St Pierre then St Georges). In 18 km. at Chéray, turn left at traffic lights (signed Camping). Continue to and through Domino (narrow streets). Follow green signs to l’Anse des Pins (avoid side roads).Link to campsite location map on google
