Alan Rogers Review of Camping Laconella
Camping Laconella is a delightful site on the attractive Mediterranean island of Elba and has been owned by the Rotellini family for 50 years. There are 125 pitches here, all for touring, with 3A electricity. They are randomly positioned on pleasant terraces and some have the benefit of great sea views. There is direct access to two quite different beaches — one is quiet and natural, the other is of a typical Mediterranean style. There are brilliant views from the on-site bar and restaurant where locally caught fish is a speciality. Other on-site amenities include free bicycle hire and a small shop selling essentials and souvenirs.
The main beach is just 10 m. from the campsite gate. Snorkelling and diving are popular here and tuition is available. Sea fishing is also popular. Elba is rich in historical sites, many reflecting Napoleon’s period of exile here. However, long before that time Elba was invaded by the Greeks and subsequently the Romans. Hikers will delight in the rich flora and fauna of the area.

Two traditional style sanitary blocks have been refurbished to a good standard. A new toilet blockwith accessible facilities. Basic cold water laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Small shop. Bar. Restaurant/pizzeria. Sports and games facilities including table tennis and football. Playground. Children’s club. Free bicycle hire. WiFi on 70% of site (charged). Communal barbecues and picnic areas.
Directions to Camping Laconella
Take the ferry from Piombino (it is recommended to let the site book your ferry when making your site reservation). From Portoferraio to Lacona is approximately 5 miles, and the site is signposted from the village outskirts.
