This is a site with some Périgordine character situated beside the Vézère river. The 400-year-old buildings, in the traditional style of the area, create an impressive entrance to the site. It is owned and run by a French family who are friendly and helpful and visitors to the site speak highly of them. They are proud of the site’s ecological credentials. There are 120 pitches of which 13 are used for chalets and mobile homes. All have 6/10A electricity connections, 75 also have water and drainage. The pitches are level, easily accessible and offer full shade.

The site also provides a six-bedroom hotel in an attractive building which also houses the bar, restaurant and shop. Outside, the attractive terrace overlooks the swimming pool. An additional, heated pool has recently been added. There are music evenings in July and August, together with shows for children. Access to the river provides opportunities for canoeing. Cycling and rambling paths lead from the site along the river bank and packed lunches are available if ordered the previous day.

Three sanitary blocks, two of them new. Accessible facilities in the new, heated blocks. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Small shop. Attractive bar/restaurant (open July/Aug for lunch and dinner, evenings only in low season) and outside eating area. Takeaway. Swimming pools (one heated) and toddlers’ pool. Play area. Half-tennis court. Canoeing. Fishing. Boules. Music evenings and children’s shows. WiFi (free).

Directions to Camping la Rivière

From Périgueux take D47 to Les Eyzies. After Manaurie and approaching Les Eyzies, turn right just before the bridge over the river. Then take the next left. Site is signed from D47.
