A short distance away from the busy coast, Puerta del Sol could suit not only families with teenage children to entertain, but also those seeking a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. Of the 216 pitches, 70 are available for touring units, each with electricity, water and drainage; they are level with dividing hedges and there is plenty of shade from mature trees. The remaining pitches are occupied by mobile homes and wooden chalets, 66 available to rent. A pleasant bar with snack bar, takeaway and small shop overlooks the outdoor pool and terrace and the adjoining indoor pool which has been recently added.
In high season, there is a daily children’s club and a range of activities for teenagers and the whole family, including games and sporting tournaments, aquarobics, and a full programme of evening entertainment in the bar. There is a restaurant nearby, while a little further afield in Saint Hilaire, Saint Gilles Croix-de-Vie and Saint Jean-de-Monts a wide range of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants is to be found. The area has an amazing choice of places to go and things to do, from taking a punt or canoe out on the nearby marais (or further afield on the peaceful waterways of La Venise Verte) to theme parks, zoos, gardens, and châteaux with ‘son et lumière’ or hands-on historical re-enactments.

Two traditional toilet blocks have a mixture of squat and British style WCs, washbasins in cabins and controllable showers. Baby bath. Accessible facilities. Hot water to Washing machines and dryers. Shop, bar snack bar and takeaway (1/5-15/9). Heated indoor swimming pool and outdoor pool (unheated) with slide and paddling pool (1/5-30/9). Play area. Tennis. Bicycle hire. Games room. Library. Internet room. Fitness suite. Sauna and jacuzzi (charged). WiFi (charged). Very large motorhomes not accepted.
Location
St Hilaire-de-Riez is 45 km. northwest of La Roche-sur-Yon. Site is 6 km. to the north. At Le Pissot, 7 km. north of St Gilles Croix-de-Vie on D38 to St Jean-de-Monts, turn north on D59 (Le Perrier). Site is signed to the right in 2 km.
