La Presqu’île de Giens is a well run, family campsite at the southern end of the Giens peninsula. The site is well maintained and extends over 17 acres of undulating terrain. Of the site’s 427 pitches, 170 are reserved for touring. These are generally of a good size and well shaded — there is a separate area of smaller pitches reserved for tents. Electrical connections (16A) are available on all pitches. In high season this becomes a lively site with a well run children’s club (small charge) and an evening entertainment programme including discos, singers and dancers.

Although there is no swimming pool, the site lies between two sandy beaches, and in July and August a free shuttle bus runs to the nearest, 800 m. away. Excursions are organised to the adjacent islands of Porquerolles, Port Cros and Le Levant. There is a beautiful walking trail set out all around the peninsula. Flamingoes and a variety of wading birds can be seen at the nearby salt marshes.

Facilities

Five toilet blocks, three very good new ones (heated in low season) and two refurbished. All was clean and well maintained. Accessible facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Motorhome services. Well stocked shop. Bar, restaurant and takeaway (all season). Play area. Sports pitch. Diving classes. Club and workshops for children (high season). Evening entertainment. Sports tournaments. Excursion programme. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. WiFi throughout (charged).

Location

From the west, leave A57 at exit for Hyères on the A570. At Hyères follow signs to Giens-les Iles (D97). At end of this road, after 11 km. turn right towards Madraque. Site is on the left.
