Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Pointe

Camping La Pointe is a small, rural family run site, set in a valley alongside a small stream, on the outskirts of Châteaulin. There are 60 grassy pitches, most with elecric hook up (10 A). There is a lovely walk along the banks of the Nantes Brest canal into the town of Chateualin where you will find bars, restaurants, shops and all the usual amenies of a small town. A variety of beautiful beaces are a short drive of about 20 minutes. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing, kayaking etc or you can just relax on the peaceful site. There is a small kitchen garden, chicken run and polytunnel where campers can buy fresh produce in season, and a regular delivery of fresh bread and croissants.

A pathway, just opposite the site entrance, gives direct access to the river Aulne where fishing is popular (permit required), and a twice hourly train service provides easy access into the cathedral city of Quimper.

Facilities at Camping la Pointe

The recently renovated spacious, unisex sanitary block is equipped with hot showers, private washing cubicles, toilets, an accessible family bathroom, washing-up sinks and coin operated washing machine and dryer. There is an information room with local tourist leaflets, a book exchange, 2 fridge freezers and a microwave for the use of campers. A games room above the block has table tennis, board games, young children’s toys and a library. There is a small fenced-off play area for young children. Bicycle hire is available on site and kayaks etc. can be hired in nearby Chateaulin. A small shop at reception sells essential supplies, as well as fresh garden produce in season and eggs from the site's free-range chickens. 4 Glamping Pods are also available for rent.
