Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Muse
This small and friendly family campsite, run by a young French couple who are working to improve it, is located on the banks of the River Tarn. With direct river acces, it is suitable for some water-based activities and for nature lovers. The 50 level pitches, 41 for tourers (from 70 sq.m), range from total shade to open sky, with or without electricity. Two barbecue areas are good gathering points and encourage sociable evenings. An adjacent restaurant, not owned by the site, may be noisy, especially on weekend evenings. This is a good site for exploring the Tarn gorges.
The castle of Peyrelade overlooks the campsite and is well worth a visit. To the south is the large town of Millau with its famous viaduct, designed by British architect Norman Foster. Opened in 2004 and spanning the Tarn valley, it is the tallest bridge in the world. The limestone rocks of the area give rise to many unusual rock formations and large caves with fine stalactites. On our visit, we were delighted to see some of the newly-introduced vultures soaring above the site.
Facilities at Camping la Muse
Two sanitary blocks (one modern, one older) with accessible facilities. Washing machine. Motorhome services. Small shop with fresh bread to order. Play area. Two communal barbecues. Free WiFi in reception.
Directions to Camping la Muse
From the A75 take exit 44.1 towards Aguessac. In Aguessac take D907 towards Florac. The campsite is 100 m. after the Rozier bridge.
