An agreeable, reasonably priced alternative to sites closer to the centre of Siena, la Montagnola is set in secluded woodland to the north of the village of Sovicille. The owners have worked hard to provide a good basic standard of amenities. The 52 pitches are 60-80 sq.m. in size and some offer privacy. Clearly marked and with shade, all are suitable for caravans and motorhomes, all having electricity connections (some need long leads). However, there are just three water points on the site. There is a large wooded area and an overflow field for tents with no electricity and another field has a play area for children.

A friendly bar/shop area offers snacks and many provisions including wines. This unsophisticated site could make an excellent touring base for central Tuscany and is not too far from the motorway for a short stay, and we would recommend a visit to the ancient walled town of Siena (10 km).

Facilities at Camping la Montagnola

A single toilet block provides free hot showers and mainly British style toilets – not luxurious, but adequate and clean. Small, well stocked shop and bar. Play area. Torches definitely required in tent areas. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Camping la Montagnola

From north on Firenze-Siena motorway take exit for Siena Ouest. Turn left on SS73 and at Malignano turn right towards Sovicille. Turn left just before mini roundabout. Site is 2 km. on the right. From south (Grosseto) take SS223 turn at crossroads to Rosia from where site is signed.
