This is a surprisingly tranquil, well cared for small campsite in the middle of this bustling resort and will appeal to those seeking rather less of the frenetic ambience typical of many sites in this area. The Chaput family, who run the site, originally worked the land as a vineyard but developed it into a campsite in 1973. It offers 100 good sized, level, sandy pitches, all with 6A electricity and most with shade from mature trees and shrubs. There are also 18 mobile homes available to rent. It benefits from direct access to an extensive sandy beach (secure gated access) and the fact that there is no swimming pool actually contributes to the tranquillity.

The beach will be the main attraction here no doubt, and the town’s extensive range of bars, restaurants and shops are all within a couple of minutes’ walk. It is well situated for visiting Sète, a miniature Venice, or Pézenas with an interesting history and lots of art and craft shops. Cap d’Agde, a modern resort with its large marina and super water park for children is popular. If you take a trip on the famous Canal du Midi you may get to see the oyster beds in the Etang de Thau, the inland saltwater lake. There are also many vineyards to visit and it is the home area of sweet Muscat wine.

Good sanitary facilities are centrally located and include some washbasins in private cabins, a baby room and en-suite accessible facilities. Motorhome services. Newly developed fitness and sports area near the beach. Beach games, dances, sangria evenings for families (July/Aug) along with a small bar/snack bar (all season). Only gas barbecues on pitches. Communal barbecue area. WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Camping la Créole

From A9 exit 34 take N312 towards Agde, then N112 towards Sète keeping a look-out for signs to Marseillan-Plage off this road. Site is well signed in Marseillan-Plage.
