Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Cigale
La Cigale is a modest little site set amid a variety of trees that give some dappled shade. 44 hedged touring pitches (100 sq.m. all with 6A electricity, 26 also with water and a drain). There is a small, unheated swimming pool and a paddling pool. The bar has a terrace where drinks and snacks are served under the shade of large plane trees. Nine chalets are available for rent.
This is an exceptional area for cycling, with designated routes. Across the bay lie bustling Arcachon and the enormous Dune de Pilat, easily reached by ferry from Cap Ferret.
Facilities at Camping la Cigale
Well equipped toilet block includes a family room with two showers and accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Simple shop, bar, terrace, meals, snacks, pizza takeaway (all 24/6-10/9). Swimming and paddling pools (25/5-12/9). Small play area. Entertainers for children and adults in July/Aug. Free donkey cart rides every Sunday in season. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. WiFi (free).
Directions to Camping la Cigale
Leave Bordeaux ring road at exit 10 (D213) or exit 11 (D106) and continue direct to Arès. Turn into Arès following road to church square. Turn right following signs for Lège-Cap Ferret. Site is 800 m. on left.
