The Stelvio National Park is arguably Italy’s premier Alpine park. Camping Kiefernhain lies within the park in the Val Venosta. There are 160 touring pitches here – some well shaded by pine trees, others with much sunnier settings. Many pitches have fine views across to the Otztaler Alps and the Ortler glaciers. All have 6A electrical connections. A public swimming pool is adjacent to the site with free access for campers. Other amenities are available in a nearby sports centre or in the village, five minutes away on foot.

The village of Prad am Stilfserjoch (900 m) provides shops, restaurants and essential services. The Austrian Tyrol and Alps are an easy car drive to the north for snow-capped mountains and ski slopes. Cycling is a popular option along the gentle valley bottom, or in the more challenging mountain passes and cycle tracks. The Museum of the Otzi Iceman, discovered in the alpine glacier in 1991, is at the town of Bolzano. It is worth the day’s excursion.

Directions to Camping Kiefernhain

From the A22 autostrada take the Bozen (south) exit and join the S38 passing Merano and Silandro. At Spondigna head south (still on the S38) to the village of Prato allo Stelvio, from where the site is well signed.
