Family owned since 1977, Joncar Mar is a mature, all-year site with limited but well maintained facilities. Its strength is its location with the beach promenade just outside the gate, and the many resort leisure facilities and local cultural attractions readily available to customers. The site is divided by a minor road and most leisure facilities are positioned on one side of the site. There are no views and the site has some apartment blocks around the periphery. The 185 pitches, 147 for touring, are small (60 sq.m) with 6A electricity, and the mobile home area in one corner of the site is cramped. Some pitches require long electricity leads.

The modest swimming pool has a shallow area at right angles at one end for children, but no barrier separating it from deeper water, so small children will need supervision, especially as there is no lifeguard. The pool is overlooked by a restaurant area offering an uncomplicated ‘eat all you can’ fixed evening buffet, which is open to the street and thus to the public. The site is relatively free from biting insects, which plague some sites and has a number of loyal customers from Britain and elsewhere. While the site offers a very basic, no-frills service, it is friendly, well organised and with a continual programme of upgrading.

One refurbished toilet block has very good facilities with good baby room and accessible facilities, the other is adequate; both are well positioned on the main side of the site and the third block on the other side is adequate. One washing machine. Small shop. Small bar and buffet restaurant. Swimming pool. Basic play area. TV in bar. Limited entertainment programme. Bicycle hire. WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Camping Joncar Mar

Roses is north of Girona and east of Figueres on the coast. From AP7/E15 take exit 3 south or exit 4 north (no exit 3 northbound) and then the N11 to the C260 and on to Roses. Site is well signed before entering the town – follow camping signs initially.
