Alan Rogers Review of Camping Het Groene Bos
Camping Het Groene Bos is a pleasant rural site located at the edge of a vast forest, the Horsterwold, in the province of Flevoland. There is a real sense of space and nature here. This immaculately kept site has 80 large, grassy touring pitches (well distributed over the site and up to 200 sq.m), most with 6-10A electricity.
The forest is ideal for walking, cycling and riding, with many miles of marked tracks. Unusually, it is possible to bring your own horse to the site and explore the Zeebodemtrail, a route of over 80 km. with horse facilities along the way. On-site, the children’s farm is undeniably a popular feature. Zeewolde (3 km. distant) is an attractive town that provides good water opportunities with a fine beach and a marina.
The area is well known for its landscape and nature art, including work by Richard Serra. Zeewolde is one of The Netherlands’ most recently established towns, created as recently as 1984, following the creation of a new polder in 1979.
