Although this attractive site is small, the hardcore roads give access to remarkably large grass pitches separated by small hedges. The larger pitches have little shade but at the far end an area of trees offers smaller shaded pitches for tents. There are also 27 immaculate mobile homes and 10 chalets. Electricity (10A) is available for 14 pitches and there are two hardstandings. The site is Tourisme & Handicap approved and offers two chalet and facilities specifically for disabled visitors. The friendly, English-speaking owner is justly proud and offers a warm welcome to her eco-friendly site. Quietly positioned, it is ideal for those who wish to enjoy relaxed rural pursuits.
A charming reception serving as library, shop, and tourist information is housed in an old farmhouse, together with a communal room used for occasional theatre, talks, visitor participation and low key entertainment. A ten minute walk to the village provides a supermarket, restaurants, bars and shops.
Facilities at Camping Etche Zahar
The single sanitary block was very clean when we visited with accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Small shop. Takeaway. (July/Aug). Swimming pool (June-Oct). Small Library. Motorhome grey water point (hose required). Some play equipment. Bicycle hire. WiFi (Charged; July/Aug). Accommodation to rent. Pets not accepted 1-20/8.

Directions to Camping Etche Zahar
From the south (Bayonne) go east on D1 and join A64. Take exit 4 turning right on D936. Turn left on D123 to Urt. Follow Toute Directions to D257. Turn right at fire station to site on left. From the north, take D12 from St Geours de-Maremne, then follow signs to Urt.
