Le Vieux Moulin is a pleasant family site, located on the banks of the Loir, close to the pretty town of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, to the south-east of Le Mans. The 67 touring pitches here are grassy and of a good size. There are also a number of mobile homes and fully equipped tents available to rent. On-site amenities include a heated swimming pool, a paddling pool and a sports field. Canoeing is popular here and canoes can be rented on site. The site becomes livelier in peak season with a limited entertainment and activity programme, including a children’s club and occasional karaoke evenings.

The Loir Valley may be less well known than its similarly named counterpart to the south, but it has very much to recommend it. It is also a wine-producing region with vineyards and cellars to visit. La Chartre is an interesting town with its fine parish church of Saint Vincent and curious Tour Jeanne d’Arc. This is a great region to be explored by cycle (hire available on site) and the nearby Forêt de Bercé has more than 300 km. of marked routes. Occasional excursions are organized by the site during peak season.

Small shop selling basics, restaurant and takeaway with licence (weekends and July/Aug). Swimming and paddling pools (1/5-30/9). Fishing. Canoeing. Bicycle hire. Large sports field. Play area. Directions to Camping du Vieux Moulin

La Chartre-sur-le-Loir is 47 km. southeast of Le Mans. From A28 exit 26, head east to Château du Loir, turn south on D938/D338 (Caen-Tours road) and cross the Loir. Then northeast on D305 to La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. After one-way system follow signs to the site, turning left immediately after crossing river.
