Camping du Moulin de Thoard is a small site located in Thoard, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France. The campsite is situated in a valley away from major tourist routes, which helps it to retain its authenticity. The Duyes River runs right next to the campsite, providing a refreshing backdrop and cooler temperatures at night, especially during the peak summer season. The campsite is surrounded by beautiful scenery, including the Pas du Lièvre, the Col de Peipin, and the Crête de Géruen.
The campsite is named after an old mill that used to be on the site. The mill was in operation around the 1950s and was used to grind wheat, make walnut oil, and produce plaster. When the campsite was created in the 1990s, the owner, M. Julien, made an effort to preserve the remains of the mill. You can still see the old millstone and the walnut press in the room next to the campsite's restaurant. The campsite offers 16 touring pitches with electric hook-up points which are separated by mature hedging, giving you plenty of privacy while you stay here. There are also various accommodation options available to rent on-site.
The campsite is also a great base for exploring the surrounding area. The Haute-Provence is a beautiful region with plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking. The village of Thoard is a short walk from the campsite and has a few shops and restaurants.
