Alan Rogers Review of Camping d’Olzo
The site is owned by the delightful, friendly Barenghi family. They are pleased to welcome you to their compact site and Dutch, Italian and English are spoken. The site is flat and very peaceful with a wide variety of trees, including gums and olives, which offer shade to most of the informal pitches and the area for motorhomes. There is ample room to manoeuvre for large units. All 140 pitches have electricity (10A) and are not far from the central sanitary block or the facilities which are grouped near reception. The site is a 500 m. walk from the beach, 300 m. of which is along a road. This is a very quiet site in an unspoilt area which will suit those who enjoy being in a friendly atmosphere without the sophisticated trimmings of the bigger sites.
The beach varies from pebbles, dried weed and sand to little rocky coves with shingle and sand and flat rocks for sunbathing. Sample the local wine and enjoy a real Italian pizza whilst watching the chef baking in the traditional manner. We also recommend the fig preserve, myrtle liqueur and chestnut cake sold here which are Corsican delicacies and delicious. Communal barbecues may be used to prepare the fish you catch from the rocks! The views hereabouts are wonderful, and many birds of prey, including eagles soar overhead.
Facilities at Camping d’Olzo
New central sanitary block has unisex toilets and single sex hot showers. Water at the sinks is cold. Everything is kept very clean and smart. Washing machines. Motorhome services. Accessible facilities. Baby room. Small shop supplies most essentials (July/Aug), bread to order. Restaurant/pizzeria and bar. Swimming pool. Play area. Communal barbecue area. Mobile homes and cabins for hire. WiFi.
Directions to Camping d’Olzo
From Bastia take the D81 west to St Florent. After some 30 minutes the site is well signed as you enter the village on the right.
