Camping De Weyert is located within the Drentsche Aa National Park. This is a good choice for nature lovers, close to the holiday village of Rolde. There are 70 good sized touring pitches on two level, grassy fields (the larger one used as an ice-skating rink in winter). All have water, electricity (4/6A), drainage and cable TV connections. Alternatively, it is possible to rent a Hooiberghut (Hay store), a delightful traditional chalet, unique to this area, which can accommodate up to four people. On-site amenities include a café and well designed children’s playgrounds, in addition to a large indoor playroom.
Drenthe is famous for its Hunebedden (dolmens). A stone’s throw from the site is one of the most famous Hunebedden groups. These are over 5,000 years old, and no-one really knows why they were constructed. This is great country to explore by bicycle and many excellent routes lead from the site. The theme park at Slagharen is popular with children, and there is a good zoo in nearby Emmen.
