Alan Rogers Review of Camping de Maillac
The site is close to the village of Sainte Nathalène, which is about six kilometres from Sarlat. It has been in the same family for three generations and has seen a continuous programme of development. There are 159 pitches, 140 for touring and the remainder for mobile homes and chalets which are to rent. The pitches are large and grassy and located in a woodland setting. A motorhome service area has been created with pitches specifically for them. The pool, reception, bar, restaurant and entertainment area are at the opposite side of a quiet country road to the pitches. This is a lively site in the peak season with regular entertainment including discos, live bands, dancing, karaoke, concerts and themed evenings.
A bus calls at the site on a Saturday morning providing transport to and from Sarlat market. Sarlat is often considered to be one of the most alluring towns of the Dordogne and is a fine example of a 14th-century French town. It can, however, become very busy in the peak season and on market days. There are many fine restaurants reflecting the riches of the surrounding countryside, famed for its truffles, strawberries and foie gras. Despite being a woodland area, barbecues are allowed; a tannoy system will alert if they are to be extinguished, usually due to prevailing winds.
Facilities at Camping de Maillac
Two toilet and shower blocks provide an adequate number of facilities for the number of pitches and would benefit from being updated. Laundry facilities. Small shop for basic groceries. Bar with terrace, restaurant, snack bar/takeaway (both July/Aug). Heated swimming and paddling pools. Spa, massage and sauna room. Indoor and outdoor entertainment areas. Games room. Tennis court. Boules. Minigolf. Play area. Activities and entertainment programme. WiFi in reception/bar areas (charged).
Directions to Camping de Maillac
From Sarlat head east on D47 towards Ste Nathalène. Just as you reach the village the site is well signed to the left.
