This small, attractive rural site is situated in a valley close to the Gorges de l’Ain and within walking distance of the lake facilities. The 110 medium sized, slightly sloping, grassy pitches (many with views of the surrounding wooded hills) are separated by low hedges and most have some shade. All have access to water points and electricity (5/10A) although some may need extremely long leads. A lakeside beach is just 300 m. away on the delightful Ile de Chambod (charged for in high season) and is an idyllic spot for picnics, beach bathing, paddling, boat launching, simple watersports and minigolf.

There is plenty to see in the region – Nantua and Bourg-en-Bresse offer a wealth of shops, restaurants and museums (about 23 km) and the stunning Gorges de l’Ain are not to be missed. A road runs around the entire lake, which provides stunning views and travels through the small hamlets surrounding this sizeable lake.

Two modern toilet blocks include some washbasins in cabins, dishwashing, laundry and vegetable preparation sinks. Washing machines and dryer. Both blocks have accessible facilities and one has a baby room. Bread available to order. Small shop (June-Aug). Bar/restaurant and takeaway (May-Aug). Swimming pool (May-Aug). Small play area. Activities organised in high season for all the family. Canoe and bicycle hire. Chalets for rent.

Directions to Camping de l’Ile Chambod

Site is 23 km. southeast of Bourg-en-Bresse via the D979. It is well signed from the crossroads in Hautecourt and is a further 4 km. southeast down a long lane.
