Camping de la Maye is on the edge of the small town of Rue, conveniently opposite a supermarket. The site is useful as a stopover for early and late travellers as it is about 60 miles from Calais and well away from any problems in the Pas de Calais. The site has 110 grass pitches, of which 30 are for touring units and have a 6/10-amp hook-up point. There are 70 seasonal pitches, and there are 10 mobile homes or log cabins available to hire. The pitches are all on grass and vary in size. Limited English is spoken at Reception. Being close to the town there will be some traffic noise but only at certain times of day. For any last-minute shopping, the Carrefour Market opposite has a good selection of wine. They do have a fuel station, but it is a bit tight for larger motorhomes.

The interesting town of Rue is an easy walk from the site with more shops and places to eat. Learn about aviation history at the Picardie Museum of the Somme Caudron Brothers Aviation Pioneers: This museum is located in the Belfry of Rue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The museum traces the history of aviation in Picardy, with a focus on the Caudron brothers, who were pioneers in French aviation. For longer stays the Baie de Somme is within easy reach. The Bay of Somme is great for exploring by boat, bike, or on foot. You can go seal-watching, visit bird sanctuaries, or simply relax on the beach.

Directions to Camping de la Maye

From the A16 at junction 24 join the D32 towards Rue. This then becomes the D940. Continue on it to Quend. At a roundabout just north of Quend follow Rue Centre signs and join the D175. The site entrance is on this road opposite Carrefour Market.
