This simple, small site is family run in a quiet, rural location in the heart of the beautiful Parc des Volcans. With good views over the surrounding hills, it is close to the Puy-de-Dôme and several winter and summer resorts. Developed from a farm with sheep and geese roaming freely until mid June, the site has winding access roads with 70 sloping, slightly uneven, grassy pitches with about 45 for touring (4-13A electricity (Europlug), long leads needed). Access is not easy for large outfits. This open-all-year site, with great views from many pitches, offers a peaceful family atmosphere in a very rural setting with the opportunity to visit the main tourist attractions of the area, all of which are within easy reach.

Not to be missed is the Panoramique des Dômes, a rack and pinion railway to the summit of the Puy-de-Dôme itself, and Vulcania, the European volcano centre with volcano themed rides and information. From the summit there are numerous walking and cycling trails and an opportunity to try your hand at paragliding. The city of Clermont-Ferrand is only a short drive away with its historic centre and great shopping.

Restaurant (July/Aug). Play area for younger children. Minigolf. Boules. Fishing (permits from reception). Free WiFi throughout.

Directions to Camping de la Haute Sioule

A75 just south of Clermont-Ferrand at exit 2, signed Bordeaux and La Bourboule. Continue on D2089 until Les Quatre Routes. Turn left at roundabout, D216. Bear left to site entrance in just over 500 m. Well signed.
