Alan Rogers Review of Camping de la Croze
Châtelguyon is an attractive spa town located to the north of Clermont-Ferrand. The town is renowned for its waters with an unusually high magnesium content, apparently an excellent anti-stress remedy. Camping de la Croze is within easy access of the town centre. There are 100 pitches here and these are grassy and of a good size. Most are equipped with electricity connections (10A). A number of chalets and mobile homes are available to rent. On-site amenities include a swimming pool and a spacious play area.
The town is now an attractive centre for exploring the Puy-de-Dôme region. This is a land of ancient volcanoes, lakes and forests. The Volvic source is close by, as well as many other mineral springs. There are very many excellent cycle and walking tracks easily accessible from the site. Clermont-Ferrand is a large city with a metropolitan area containing more than 400,000 inhabitants. Although heavily industrial in parts (including the Michelin tyre company’s production plant and corporate headquarters), it has a fine city centre with its superb black granite cathedral of Notre Dame de l’Assomption.

Directions to Camping de la Croze
Châtelguyon is northwest of Clermont-Ferrand. From there, head north on A71 and leave at exit 13 (Riom). Take the northern ring-road around Riom (D2009 and D446) and then head north on D227 to Châtelguyon.
