Alan Rogers Review of Camping de Hondsrug
This site is targeted at young families and is located at the Hondsrug (literally dog’s back), an escarpment of around 70 km. rising up above the flat country below. In keeping with the canine theme, this site uses a dachshund as its motif. There are 250 grassy touring pitches here, all with 6/10A electricity, of which 110 are large serviced pitches with water and drainage and 16 are Comfort Plus with their own small toilet block.
The pitches are divided by young shrubs and bushes so there is hardly any shade. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and also a subtropical indoor pool and a children’s pool. These are reserved in the morning for parents and their children (up to 6 years) and anyone older than 30.
This is a beautiful area to explore, either on foot or by cycle, or even by huifkar, a traditional covered wagon. For motorists the 95 km. Hondsrug Route leads past many interesting sites.
