Alan Rogers Review of Camping Chadotel International Erromardie
There are not many sites right by the sea in this region. Erromardie, a new member of the Chadotel group, is a good one, with only a small access road to cross to reach a beach of coarse sand and fine shingle. The site is mainly flat and grassy, with several different parts separated by hedges, but not much shade. There are 215 pitches, mainly adjoining access roads and backing onto hedges, including 70 for tourers with 6A electricity, of which 20 also have water and waste water drainage. Some pitches have ocean views and others have views of the Pyrenees.
Saint Jean-de-Luz, just 20 minutes walk away, is an attractive, lively seaside resort with plenty of history and character. A regular bus service operates to the resort in July and August. The galleried church of Saint Jean-Baptiste is well worth a visit. Fishing boats land their catch most mornings in the small port and many of the restaurants offer fresh fish at reasonable prices. Gateau Basque is a regional delight that must be sampled. The Littoral footpath passes the perimeter of the site and provides dramatic views over the Atlantic surf and Basque coastline. The more select and sedate Biarritz and the Spanish border at Hendaye and Behobia are around 15 km.

The large sanitary buildings are of good quality, with individual cabins and free hot water. Baby area. Accessible facilities. Laundry room. Motorhome services. Shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway (May-Sept). Basic outdoor heated swimming pool (15/5-10/9). Water play area. Playground. Boules. Fishing. Mobile homes for hire. Barbecue rental. WiFi throughout (charged).

Take exit 3 from the A63 (E05, E70) St Jean-de-Luz Nord towards St Jean-de-Luz/Guéthary/Ascain onto ave de Lahanchipia, then left onto ave André Ithurralde (D810), first right ave Claude Farrère and follow site signs.
