Camping Castanhada is in the Ardèche Mountains Regional Nature Park the site of the 'European Grand Canyon'. The campsite offers a great view of the surrounding mountains and stands just 500m from Chassezac river and 800m from Les Vans, a typical Ardeche village. A drive to see the gorges and canoe under the Pont d'Arc is a must if you are anywhere in these parts. There are 47 touring pitches, of which have 16AMP electrical hook-up points available. Pitches are spacious and open, and aren't delimited but here are plenty of mature trees covering the site giving plenty of shade during the summer sun.

On-site, there is a peaceful garden as well as an aqua play area with an above-ground swimming pool and a giant inflatable slide. Children will have hours of fun here during the summer. You also have access to Wi-Fi throughout the site, and a big-screen TV is available to watch to keep up with all the latest sports. Shops and supplies at Les Vans are 800 metres away, or you can eat at the campsite's snack bar, which serves various meals and drinks. Themed evenings such as mussels and fries, paella, grill nights, and charcuterie/cheese board nights are regularly held here during the summer too.

The campsite is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. The Ardèche is a beautiful region with plenty to see and do, including hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and visiting historical sites. Some popular nearby attractions include the Chauvet Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with prehistoric cave paintings.

Directions to Camping Castanhada

A7 exit Montélimar Sud and join the N102 to Aubenas. At McDonald’s roundabout take the last exit to join the D104 towards Uzer and Rosières. At Lablachère roundabout take the first exit to join the D104A. towards Les Vans. Follow this road to Les Vans and the site is on the right before you reach the town. The site is near a roundabout, look out for Biocoop Chambonas.
