Alan Rogers Review
Le Bois Simonet is located 3 km. from Joyeuse in the western Ardèche. There are 70 pitches here, most of which are occupied by chalets (available to rent). The 27 touring pitches are well shaded and most have 6A electricity connections. There is a lively activity and entertainment programme in peak season, including special events for children, and activities such as mountain biking and an aquagym. All entertainment finishes at 23.00, ensuring a good night’s sleep for all guests. On-site amenities include a swimming pool and separate children’s pool, as well as a bar/snack bar.
The River Beaume is located 500 m. from the site and is very popular with anglers and also for swimming, thanks to its crystal waters. The gorge of the Dourbie (around 3 km. distant) is very popular with canoeists, particularly in Spring. Joyeuse is a pretty, medieval town which owes its name to Charlemagne’s celebrated sword (La Joyeuse – or the Merry One!) Nowadays this is a sleepy town which hosts a charming sweet chestnut museum, as well as a fine weekly market.
