This site is situated just south of the village of Meiringen on the route to the Grimsel Pass and Susten Passes. With a backdrop of steep cliffs it has good views of the adjacent mountains and forest-covered slopes. It provides 180 pitches of which 120 are for tourers, 100 with 10A electricity. Useful as an overnight stop en-route to the Grimsel Pass or for a short rest having faced the challenges that the Pass has to offer. Close by you will find the Aare Gorge, with its mile-long walkway, the glacier and gorge of Rosenlaui and the Reichenbach falls (where Sherlock Holmes fell to his death) and much more.

The heated sanitary block in the reception building has WCs, hot showers and washbasins in cabins. Accessible Facilities. Washing machines and dryer. Motorhome services. Shop. Restaurant and takeaway. Heated outdoor swimming pool (July/Aug). TV room. Play area. Covered communal grill area. Pets allowed, Dog shower, Drying room, WiFi (free).
Directions to Camping Balmweid
From Meiringen the site is well signed to the south. At roundabout turn left and then left again in 200 m. From Bern and Interlaken just go straight on at the roundabout signed ‘Grimsel’.
