Alan Rogers Review of Camping Azun Nature
This site is attractively located on the edge of the National Park of the High Pyrenees with superb walking, mountain biking and paragliding opportunities. The 25 open and grassy touring pitches, most with electricity (3-6A, long leads may be required), have fine views of the surrounding mountains. There are 12 rental chalets. The owner is friendly and enthusiastic. A small shop is provided and drinks can be served on the terrace in summer. The site prides itself on its relative simplicity and its environmental ethos. The owners are delighted to recommend walking or cycling itineraries and to help organise excursions. There are also many kilometres of marked tracks.
Azun Nature has been developed along various environmental grounds with careful choice of building materials and a rigorous recycling programme. There are many attractive villages and some lovely picnic spots in the area. The site is near Argelès-Gazost, the Cirque of Gavarnie and the major pilgrimage centre of Lourdes, though a car is necessary. Two nearby paragliding schools will provide tuition, and the site itself is a location for paragliding.
Facilities at Camping Azun Nature
Good quality sanitary block with accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. No restaurant/snack bar but drinks and coffee served on the terrace in high season. Shop selling organic and local produce, ice creams, bread and pastries (1/6-30/9). Play area. Activities room. Maps and tourist information. Free WiFi throughout. Large field for sports and games.
Directions to Camping Azun Nature
From Argelès-Gazost take 921B then D918 following signs for Aucun. At sign for Aucun village turn left for Las Poueyes and drive for 100 m. Azun Nature’s entrance is on the right between the barns.
