Alan Rogers Review
Au Lac du Como is situated in a most pleasant location at the head of Lake Como, in the centre of the village of Sorico, facing south down the water and surrounded by wooded mountains. There is direct access to the lake for swimming and other watersports, with windsurfing appearing to be the most popular pastime. Static units predominate but the camping area is directly by the lake, where there is said to be room for 74 touring units, with 3A electricity. However, as pitches are not marked out, pitching can be haphazard and the area may become crowded, particularly in high season when booking is advised.
Cars are parked just away from tents and caravans and there is further parking outside the entrance. The owner speaks good English and insists on respect for other residents, so ball games, barbecues and loud music are not allowed. The site is well situated for exploring the area, with Switzerland nearby via the Splugen Pass. There are also marked paths and trails for walking and biking in the mountains with an interesting nature park nearby. Although it makes a good night stop when passing this way, many visitors find it interesting and stay longer. Most guests are German or Dutch but British campers find their way here and are welcome.
