This is an excellent location for exploring the Camargue area of France it is also close to the local town and just 1km from a blue flag beach; there are also several adventure and theme parks in the locality to keep the family entertained. Getting to the site is very easy, and the site was easy to locate, however, access to the site is tedious; if reception is closed for lunch, vehicles waiting to register tend to block access to the site for existing holidaymakers. (I recommend checking reception hours before arrival). English was spoken at reception though not fluently.

With 277 level and hedged pitches, there are 47 touring units (mainly 100 sq.m), 102 mobile homes or chalets to rent and the remainder privately owned. Electricity (6A) and water are available on most, and the pitches are well maintained and shaded, with trees and flowering shrubs; pitches do have tree shade, which is certainly needed in this region mid-summer. And all are within easy reach of modern sanitary facilities,

The highlight of this site is the Bar/Restaurant/Pool area. This is a well-thought-out, family-friendly area and has been constructed to a very high standard with indoor and outdoor pools, games and entertainment areas. An air-conditioned cinema shows French films; there is also an excellent play area and a multisports court.

English is spoken. In July and August arrivals are not registered until after 16.00. Le Grau-du-Roi is a popular holiday resort with sandy beaches, a fishing harbour and one of the largest marinas in the Mediterranean.

New multisports court. Outdoor fitness room. Cinema (air-conditioned). High-quality play area. Bicycle hire. Entertainment programme and children’s club (high season). Pétanque. Music room for young visitors in high season. WiFi throughout (charged) and free at the restaurant. Site access card (deposit € 15).

Directions to Camping Abri de Camargue

Site is 45 km. southwest of Nîmes. From A9 exit 26, Gallargues to Le Grau-du-Roi. From bypass follow signs Port Camargue and Campings. Then follow Rive gauche signs towards Phare l’Espiguette. Site is on right opposite Toboggan Park.
