Alan Rogers Review

If you are looking for tranquility, wonderful views and enjoy walking and cycling, Bakewell Camping & Caravanning Club site is for you. Its location near the village of Youlgreave in the Peak District National Park offers a true back to nature experience. Previous visitors report that the site’s minimum facilities are part of its appeal. The site offers a peaceful, rural setting with stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside with 100 grass and hardstanding pitches (some seasonal), most with electric hook-up. Bakewell town is only five miles from the site so why not try the pudding (not tart). Visit Haddon Hall, the National Trust’s Ilam Park and Dovedale, an iconic and spectacular gorge carved out by the river Dove. Outdoor pursuits in the area around the site are not in short supply with climbing, caving, horse riding, walking and cycling available. Coarse fishing only 1/4 mile from site.

N.B. Non-members are welcome and may join on site. Please speak to site staff for details and to check pitch availability before arrival.

Location

You are advised not to rely on sat nav. From Buxton on A6 via Ashford and Bakewell, turn right onto B5056 to Youlgreave. Turn left at the Church onto Bradford Road. Cross the river and turn right up farm track signed Hopping Farm. Access road is narrow, care is needed. From Matlock on A6 after Rowsley turn left on B5056 to Youlgreave. Then as above.
