Alan Rogers Review of Ashbourne Heights
Ashbourne Heights is set on high, flat ground in the Peak District National Park with marvellous views. The site provides 260 spacious and carefully positioned pitches, of which 170 are for touring units. On grass or with hardstanding, most have 16A electricity. Privately owned caravan holiday homes (30) and 60 seasonal units occupy further fields. Amenities include an indoor, heated swimming pool which is open all season.
The park is in the heart of the National Park – Dovedale and Ilam are only a mile or two by footpath and the Tissington Trail with access to the High Peak Trail passes by the park. The surrounding Derbyshire countryside provides breathtaking landscapes. Destinations for days out could include Buxton, Chatsworth House, the Crich Tram Museum or Alton Towers.
Facilities at Ashbourne Heights
Two heated, stone-built toilet blocks are well maintained and clean. No accessible facilities for campers. Washing machine and dryer. Shop for basics and gas. Good play area. Heated indoor swimming pool (all season, charged). WiFi throughout (charged). Winter caravan storage. Torches useful.
Directions to Ashbourne Heights
Park is west off A515 Buxton-Ashbourne road, just north of Fenny Bentley village; the entrance is 100 yds. south of old railway bridge (take care at sharp turn to site road when approaching from Ashbourne).
