Alan Rogers Review of Alpine Grove Touring Park
Situated close to both Chard and Cricket St Thomas is this peaceful woodland site is owned by Keith and Serena Wootton who go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay here. Recent recipients of the Green Tourist Gold award the pitches vary in size (20 - 70 sq.m) and are on flat ground served by gravel roads giving easy access. Some informally marked pitches are tucked away in dense foliage and are very private. Electricity (10A) is supplied to 26 of the 36 touring pitches (16 hardstandings).
All the standard facilities are near reception, including a free, fenced and heated swimming pool (10x5 m). A play area is provided for children under the canopy of mature trees which shade the site.
Campers can barbecue on the pitches and use the picnic tables provided or perhaps hire a fire pit for cooking their supper. Torches are essential at night. This is a well-placed site for visiting Devon, Dorset and Somerset, and many places of interest close by. There are many fascinating things to do and see in the area and details are provided by the reception. Nature scavenger trails for children are organised, along with opportunities to see the wildlife that regularly visits the site. This is a pleasant ‘back to nature’ park, which is highly suitable for families who enjoy this type of camping. Four charming log cabins are also for hire.
